Eggo Brunch in a Jar Sippin Cream: An Honest Review of Waffle Booze

Do you love Eggo waffles so much you wish you could drink them? Do you stare forlornly at your brunch and wonder why it’s not getting you tipsy? Well, Eggo has a new product for you. The frozen waffle company partnered with Sugarlands Distilling Co. to create Eggo Brunch in a Jar Appalachian Sippin’ Cream—a waffles and syrup flavored cream liqueur coming in at 20% ABV.

This isn’t the first time Eggo and Sugarlands have teamed up. Last year, they co-created Eggo-Nog, a waffle-inspired jarred Eggnog liqueur. And it was so well-received, that they couldn’t wait to try it again. But this time they made something you can enjoy all year round (not that there’s anything wrong with drinking Eggnog in July, you do you).

Though it might feel like a publicity stunt, you can actually buy these jars of creamy booze in stores across the country. We gave it a try to find out if you should.

I’ll cut to the chase: If you love Bailey’s Irish Cream and you like maple syrup, you will totally adore this waffle and syrup liqueur. If you do not like Bailey’s, you will not like this. It’s very, very sweet, but that’s counterbalanced by the strong twinge of booze that really wakes you up upon the first sip. It tastes much stronger than 20% ABV. Then there’s the creaminess, and that’s really what this sippin’ cream is all about. It’s so, so, so creamy. And the maple flavor comes through wonderfully. I don’t really get a lot of distinct waffle flavor, but that’s okay. This is still a delightful maple treat to sip after a meal or stir into cold brew for a brunchtime cocktail. Or blend it up into a milkshake with some vanilla ice cream. There’s 750ml of creamy waffle booze in one of these jars—that’s as much as a bottle of wine. It might seem like a lot, but I promise, if you are into cream liqueurs, you will go through this fast. It’s as good if not better than most of the cream liqueurs on the market right now and it comes in really fun packaging. Plus, who doesn’t like to say Appalachian sippin’ cream?
